As we are all aware, there are major things happening in our State Capital concerning education. Cut backs are being implemented, and we are all needing to make budgets come together with less and less funds. It is a tough situation for some schools, one that is hard to fully comprehend. We too cannot imagine making additional cut backs in funding and afraid how this will affect our students, who are most important in this situation.
We have been contacted by surrounding schools that are in need of a specific class or curriculum, so we do know the need is out there to provide different levels of high school based education. We are currently being looked at as an alternative for a foreign language component, a source for a state recognized diploma program for home school students, and a means to supply upper level classes to students who excel at their current level of schooling. Also, remember that we offer a full curriculum for students who wish to seek a diploma online, or students who need summer school.
We at the HLA are looking at alternatives to serving our neighboring school districts. Our virtual component to our school allows us to enroll outside students into a specific class or set of classes (depending on the need) for a specific fee. Since we are a public charter school we understand the need to keep FTE (funds) within your own district/school. The fees assessed with the services are only based on courses needed. Please refer to the brochure for more information.
We want to know if we can be of service to you. Emily Snyder (620-428-6374 ex. 115) will be able to answer any additional questions.
